The Case
A bad debt. A false name. The wrong Claus in the wrong place.
Private eye Elliot Brick is hired by the wealthy Holly Daize to track down her ex-husband, Manny Claus, who has fled to the North Pole owing a fortune to Las Vegas mobsters.
But when Brick arrives, he finds Santa’s operation in chaos: Mrs. Claus is off flirting in the Bahamas, Santa’s chief of staff Elfish is struggling to hold the workshop together, and a mysterious new hire named Twinkle has Santa completely smitten.
When Manny turns up murdered—impaled with a candy cane—everyone from Santa to a colorful cast of audience-recruited informants becomes a suspect.
Brick must separate fact from fraud before his case—and Christmas Eve itself—goes up in candy-cane smoke.

Santa Claus
The elves are sick, Christmas is approaching, Mrs. Claus is still in the Bahamas, and Santa’s estranged brother has returned with trouble behind him. The new elf is helping—although perhaps not with his concentration.
Elfish Prezley
Santa’s chief of staff has kept the North Pole running for 157 years while waiting for him to retire. She does the bookkeeping, protects the workshop, and knows exactly how much trouble Manny has brought home.
Manny Claus
Santa’s wayward brother abandoned the family business for Las Vegas. Now he owes a million dollars to dangerous people and has come home expecting family loyalty to cover the balance.
Holly Daize / “Twinkle”
Holly is wealthy, formidable, and tired of paying for Manny’s mistakes. Her alter ego is a newly hired elf with a powerful interest in Santa—and an even more powerful interest in finding Manny.
Elliot Brick
A private detective whose accidental successes have never improved his finances. Brick arrives at the North Pole posing as a Publishers Clearing House representative and carrying Boardwalk as his retainer.
Inside the Mystery
The audience becomes Brick’s street network before it becomes the jury.

Before the performance, guests receive a program, Detective Card, pen, and Character Fun Fact while the cast circulates in character.
Six volunteers become Mrs. Claus, her Bahamas companion Jose, newsstand operator Three Fingers, street vendor Apple Annie, underworld informant Blinkie the Stoolie, and Brick’s police nemesis Lt. Cleftjaw. Brick privately coaches each participant; no theatrical experience is required.
After Act Two, the full audience questions the suspects directly and completes Detective Cards identifying the killer, motive, and evidence before Act Three reveals the solution.
Guests do not watch Brick search the city. They become the city he searches.

Authentic Artifacts Become EvidenceThe Detective Card and program belong to the audience’s lived experience. The Boardwalk deed, visitor badge, and records files belong to the case. Together they allow the page to document both the play’s world and the evening that brings it to life.
The Wrong ClausThe mystery turns on names, disguises, documents, and mistaken identities. Brick follows the paper trail with complete confidence—often while looking directly at the wrong man.

Slay Ride III is designed for five performers, six willing audience volunteers, musical parody with recorded accompaniment, and a compact collection of costumes and hand props.
